The A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH in Rostock is one of Europe’s leading river cruise companies in the premium segment on the Danube, Rhône / Saône and Rhine / Main / Mosel.
In 2000 A-ROSA was established by Seetours, a joint venture between DSR and the British shipping company P&O. A-ROSA initially entered the market with two river cruise ships on the Danube and one ocean going cruise ship in 2002.
With its success, the modern and homogeneous A-ROSA fleet has grown to its present size of 10 ships, which all conform to modern safety and environmental standards. The eleventh ship, the A-ROSA FLORA, will be brought into service in 2014. All ships were developed by the A-ROSA crew and built at the Neptun shipyard in Rostock-Warnemünde.
As a brand supplier, A-ROSA creates a casual-deluxe holiday experience from one source with a focus on pleasure, wellness, sports and creating experiences. The company is based in Rostock and Chur (Switzerland) with approximately 580 employees in 2012 and had total revenues of approximately 60 million Euro. A-ROSA is an apprentice company and has committed itself to compliance with the highest environmental and safety standards. The company retains the rights to the A-ROSA brand.
In spring 2009, all shares of A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH were acquired by the management of A-ROSA, namely Lars Clasen and Markus Zoepke, jointly with the financial investor Waterland Private Equity under a management buyout. Since June 2013 Jörg Eichler has been the Managing Director of A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH, who is considered a sales and marketing specialist with extensive experience in tourism and the cruise industry, including TUI Germany and AIDA Cruises.
In the coming years the premium positioning and quality leadership will be further strengthened by investments in product innovation, marketing and sales. In addition, further expansion of the fleet and the area of operation are considered in the medium and long term to successfully continue the growth path of recent years in the core business.
